Bought this on a whim because I want a griddle but need another grill in the backyard like I need another hole in my face. Figured if I don't like it, nothing lost. The other options are 3X the price and cast iron (Rust City outdoors), which means they aren't one piece like this one. The single piece literally gives you a 24" skillet to cook on.
Well let me tell ya... love it! I seasoned it 5 times with Avocado oil before cooking on it and it's a shade off black. Nothing stuck to it. Food was great! Best part was the wife didn't complain about smokey flavor so 5/5 from her too.
Make sure you use the platesetter so the heat is more evenly distributed, especially when seasoning. The other reviewer mentioned thickness, which was my number one concern, but it's totally fine. It doesn't flex at all with normal usage, so don't worry about that.
I also noticed the outer edge is hotter than the middle which is the opposite of what I expected. I use a Kick Ash bucket and only fill the backside which gives me a hotter rear of the plate vs a slightly less hot front of the plate. I was running about 325 in the rear and 250 in the front for most of the cook. Near the end, I closed the vent at the bottom and just finished up my cook like a normal griddle with the lid up.
