If you are looking for a sturdy thermometer mount that does not require you to drill a second or third hole in your Weber Smokey Mountain smoker this is a great choice. The supplied hardware allows you to swap out the OEM bolt and add the mount using any of the existing holes used to install the smoker grate strap set.
The mount is very rigid with no spring to it. In a pinch, you could probably carry the center using the mount as a handle. If your WSM is on casters, the mount makes for a sturdy grasping point to rotate or reposition the smoker.
The angle and lip at the botto will hold most thermometers, but the mount is made of ferris metal, so any thermometer with magnets will cling to the mount. I am able to attach my thermometer in the front and use a Thermaworks magnetic silicon probe spool to wrap up probe wires and tuck them neatly behind the mount.

The thermometer holder installed so easily and works just like it should. Now I don't have to put my digital thermometer on the ground or find a spot on my grill table. I also have the hinge kit. I am able to pull my cover over both! I have the stanbroil premium cover off Amazon.
