Hunsaker Stainless Steel Floating Hinge for Drum Smokers: The Perfect Way to Make Your Smoker Easier to Use

I wasn't sure if the floating hinge would work on my 30 gal. PBC, but during a pleasant conversation with Mark, we compared measurements of the lip surrounding the drum lids and decided it would probably be compatible. Upon receiving it, it was apparent that since it is primarily designed for a 55 gal. drum, the radius of the hinge mount would need a small bit of tweaking which amounted to simply bending it a little in a vice to fit the smaller curvature of the 30 gal. PBC. The only other adjustment involved grinding a little off the tongue of the hinge in order to gain clearance for the hinge mechanism to ride above the lip of the lid. Both of these modifications are simple to do even for someone who is not mechanically gifted, and can be accomplished with no more than a vice and a grinder. Finally, the hinge works like a dream allowing the lid to seal perfectly. No more temperature spikes as I'm looking for a place to hang the lid. Since I own two PBC's, I am about to order a second hinge. Super Impressed!

1st time using this product. Very solid design. I had some installation questions and they were very quick to help! Even sent me pictures of one already installed in the shop. Works great.. Will outcast my drum.
