The hinge was an easy no-brainier to install following the instructions supplied by Hunsaker. I was concerned about the weight of the smoker lid and how far it went back when opened as to whether or not it might make the smoker a bit top heavy and fall over, but it did not. It pretty much stops in an upright position and just a slight lean to the rear of the smoker which makes it settle in perfect.
It is a floating hinge so the lif can be removed as needed. Recommend it highly.

The Hunsaker hinge was easy to install and works great. Love that there isn’t a pin to pull out to remove the lid. The hinged lid now lifts early and is not on the ground getting the floor dirty and cluttered. Highly recommend this product.

Works exactly as specified and is well made. Easy install.

On the unit I received, both the bottom and top mounting plate were significantly bent and wavy, with no consistent bend radius. Also, the bolt holes drilled in the plates were not symmetric (on both plates, one hole is visibly inset more than the other). Finally, the lower hinge receiver is bent (or perhaps warped from welding?) such that the hinge does not actuate smoothly when aligned properly and requires you to leave them visibly offset.
I expected a much higher quality product given the price point. I’m so frustrated by the lack of quality that after spending a bit of time exploring options to try and “fix” it, I’ve decided I will simply not be installing it.
